What is it? Food Stamps is a government program that gives families money to buy food. Families can get Food Stamps even if they make too much money to get TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families). What do I get? An Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that you use like a credit card at your local grocery store to buy food. The amount of money you get each month depends on your household size and income. How long do I get it? You can get Food Stamps for one month to one year before reapplying. When it's time to reapply, you'll get a letter in the mail. You must respond to this letter or your benefits will end. |
