You qualify for Food Stamps if you:
- Are a U.S. citizen or legal adult resident who has resided in the U.S. for at least 5 years, or legal immigrant children regardless of when they entered the U.S.
- Have a qualifying income (see the table below)
- Note: There is no longer a resource limit for Food Stamps eligibility
For example, if your family size is four and your household income is $2,297 or less per month, you’ll likely qualify for Food Stamps.

Sometimes other information about your household income or expenses may affect your application. You will find out about this at the Food Stamps office when you apply.
If your application for Food Stamps is denied, you can make an appointment at the Food Stamps office to discuss your case or request a Fair Hearing by calling your county Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) office. In Fulton County, call (404) 206-5300. In Dekalb County, call (404) 370-5251. You must call within 10 days of getting your notice.
