How do I apply?

You must contact Habitat for Humanity at (404) 223-5180 ext. 100 to register for an Application Workshop. Workshops are held twice a month on Saturday mornings or Tuesday evenings. After the one-hour program presentation, staff and trained volunteers will meet with you to review your application and supporting documents. If you meet program requirements, you can submit your application. If not, you will be advised on what to do so you can apply at a later date.

What do I Need to Bring?
  • Federal and state income tax returns for the previous 2 years (including the 1040 and all W2 forms)
  • Proof of any additional income (SSA, SSDI, Child Support, Retirement, etc.)
  • Credit Report
  • Proof of expenses:
    • Copy of Lease or Verification of Rent
    • Water
    • Gas
    • Electricity
    • Phone
    • Car
    • Car Insurance
    • Childcare
    • Furniture/TV
    • Loans
    • Health Insurance
    • Life Insurance
    • Credit Card Payments
  • Proof of Identity:
    • Social Security card, Birth Certificate, and State ID or Driver’s license for all applicants
    • Proof of Legal Residency (if applicant is not a citizen)
    • Birth Certificate of all dependents
    • Legal Guardianship documents (for children you are raising that are not your biological children)
  • Savings statements showing a minimum balance of $200 over the past six months. (Checking, Savings, 401k, 403b, annuities, retirement accounts, children’s accounts for whom you are the custodial parent)
  • Three references (not family members) for each applicant.

Look Out
  • Remember to bring photocopies of your documents; please do not bring originals.

  • It is strongly recommended that you bring a copy of your credit report to the meeting. You can request a free copy by calling Equifax at (800) 997-2493, TransUnion at (800) 888-4213, or Experian at (888) 397-3742, or by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com.

  • You will need to bring a money order for $10 to the Application Workshop (leave it blank; it will only be taken if you submit your application).
